The PMU Giveth and the PMU taketh away. Blessed be the name of the PMU.

So, it turns out I wasn’t resetting the PMU properly. I was using ye olde ‘reset button’ method. And, of course, the PowerBook G4 12″ doesn’t have a reset button. So, to clarify: holding the power button down for 45 seconds does not reset the Power Management Unit. Shutting the machine down, pressing Ctrl-Shift-Option-Power, releasing the keys and waiting five seconds before turning the machine back on does. My newly-reset PMU has brought back the sleep indicator light. But, that is all. So, I fear I must take my wonderful little machine in on Monday to get the Bluetooth module and Keyboard replaced. Hopefully I can take it in in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon to get the problems confirmed, and then do the same once the parts arrive. Because going without my PowerBook would be very frustrating.
